Scalloped Potatoes
Full recipe. You can also make this for two.
Preheat oven to 350. Peel and thinly slice enough
- Potatoes
to not quite fill a 1.5 quart round pyrex with a lid. Chop up a
- Big Onion
Then get a big pot and lightly brown
- 2 tbsp butter
Then add onions and stir. When onions are sweated add
- 2 tbsp flour
and mix around until all flour is incorporated into the butter and onions. Then add
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp salt
- pepper
- lots of cubed cheese
Stir around over low heat until it's a gooey mess. Add potatoes a few at a time and get them all coated with the cheese sauce.Then scrape them into the pyrex, cover with lid and into the oven for
one hour at 350.
After an hour with the lid on, remove the lid and give them
one more hour at 350.
Serve with grilled ham steak.
Liquid will bubble up through the potatoes as they cook, so if you add potatoes above the edge of your pyrex you'd better put some foil under it in the oven.
